Mabentsela has been a lecturer at UCT's department of chemical engineering since 2015.

Gerda Kruger, the University of Cape Town's spokesperson, said Mabentsela's post is unacceptable and out of line with the university's values.

She added that an investigation into the lecturer's behaviour has begun and that it would be handled.

Briefly.co.za learned that this isn't the first time Mabentsela shared his controversial opinions on social media.

Earlier, the lecturer gave women 'advice' and told them, among other things, to 'close their legs and open their ears'.
