A hero cop in Cape Town recently confronted a pickpocket, recovered a stolen phone, and made sure the owner got it back.
Rafeeq Khan witnessed the pickpocket stealing the phone from the jacket of a young mom named Robin Isaacs, who was rushing to catch the bus, Briefly.co.za learned.
27-year-old Rafeeq works for the City of Cape Town's Transport Enforcement Unit, Daily Voice reported.
I was on the other side of the road and saw the whole thing but by the time I got across the road, [Robin] was gone and I got into a scuffle with him for the phone.
The thief dropped the phone and took off. Rafeeq found Robin's mom's number on the phone and called her. He eventually managed to return it to Robin the following day.
Robin thanked Rafeeq for his heroic gesture. Her sister, Tanya Philander, shared the story on Facebook, where it has gone viral. She wrote:
So to me I would like to thank you for what you did. If only we could have more of this type of guys in our community, it would surely be a better place.
