In 2017 about half of South Africa's roads could be classified as poor or very poor and it doesn't look like that's going to change soon.

Lack of proper road maintenance has left many roads in varying states of disrepair - a sight South Africans have become accustomed to.

The video, shared by community page South Africa Live was captioned "South African roads not For the Faint hearted!!" and shows a road in Free State.

In true South African spirit, there were people who could joke about the matter and see the humour.

Kon Tastik - No wonder all the ministers need these multimillion rand 4x4s. makes so much sense now.
Heinrich Visser - Somewhere someone of town will say:"We are experimenting with a new type of speed reduce system whereby we dig a hole in the ground. It will save money and drastically reduce speeding making the road safer for all."

Other South Africans were a little shocked and a lot disappointed in the state of the road, and South Africa in general.

Wandi Mncube - iyhoooo same as Bethal and eMzinoni Township exactly like Free State.
Maesela William Kekana - Thats crime against motorists and all other road users paying for services. That municipality`s employees musty all be fired.
Tony Fuzz Cerfontyne - At first I thought it was Zimbabwe, not South Africa
Samuel Rasmani - Looks like harare to me
Luba Belzar - Everything deteriorating in SA like this road. ..
Ahmed Saeed Dawood - Leave black or white, normal people would say this road is f*cked!!! We do not need to know what colour is black or white, we need people who can run the country properly that's all, if you f*ck it up don't blame the colour or the past, look ahead and keep the road ahead of you smooth and safe!!!
