ProKid’s brother pays special tribute to his hero #ProKidMemorial

- His brother, Citi, gave a moving speech and opened with a performance in his honour

Mzansi’s entire hip-hop industry united on Thursday afternoon to pay tribute to ProKid’s. His brother gave a speech that will bring a lump to your throat.

The memorial was held on Thursday afternoon in Johannesburg at Bassline, reported Times Live. It has only been a week since the hip-hop star passed.

It was an afternoon filled with love, appreciation and celebration of ProKid and his life.

Sandile Mkhize aka DJ Citi Lyts, ProKid’s brother, stood up to give his speech. He stated that his brother is his ‘idol’ and always will be. His speech was moving.

Briefly.co.za learnt that he opened up with a tribute to his brother by performing one of his songs, ‘Wozobona’.

Citi then went on to speak about his brother, his hero.

One of his best memories of his brother was the times where he came to him for fresh inspiration and to get the DL on what was ‘happening’ with the younger crowd.

Citi highlighted that his brother brought people together and that he made a lasting impact on many.

ProKid’s passing has not been easy on the family. He will be laid to rest on Sunday next to other great musicians in Johannesburg.
