Monaheng Moloisane, acting manager of the Emfuleni municipality earns a comfortable salary of more than R1 million a year. However, Moloisane isn't qualified or fit for the job.
Moloisane only has matric as his highest academic qualification and a couple of certificates for short courses on local government.
The Emfuleni municipality has been in financial troubles for a while now and has failed to deliver on basic services like refuse collection. The municipality has also been in trouble over non-payment issues.
The Sowetan reported that MEC Uhuru Moiloa revealed that Moloisane earns over R1 million a year. The minimum requirements for the job is 5 years experience in management and a bachelor's degree in facilities management or building or property management.
As part of the job's payment package is a housing subsidy, medical aid and vehicle allowance.
Stanley Gaba of Emfuleni confirmed that Moloisane has been employed as manager since 2016 but says that he hasn't been appointed permanently.
