Heart and soul of Dorkay House, Queeneth Ndaba has died at 81 years of age.
South African musicians are mourning the loss of this great icon who was known to be the very heart of Dorkay House.
According to a report by SowetanLive, Queeneth’s daughter Mpande confirmed that her mother had died due to illness on Wednesday at the OR Tambo Memorial Hospital.
Many musicians remembered their interactions with this great lady.
People’s poet Mzwakhe Mbuli said:
“She was a moving library in terms of South African music history.
She ran Dorkay House and assisted a lot of musicians. Sis' Queeneth knew everything about local music scene.”
Jane Dlamini commented that:
“She was very helpful when we started in this industry. She knew all the music events that were taking place and would supply artists with the information [they needed]. Even when we had to apply for funding, she would assist when filling in the forms. We used to rehearse at Dorkay House for free, thanks to her.”
