South African rapper Blaklez has released a new album Baby Brother and one of the songs on it is named Who Killed Senzo?. The rapper is using Senzo Meyiwa's murder as a way to express himself and the injustices of society.
Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa was fatally shot almost 4 years ago during what some believe was a botched robbery but many people are convinced he was murdered. As of yet, no arrests or progress has been made in the case.
Blaklez got his fans stirring when they learned about his new track Who Killed Senzo? and he says all is not as it seems with this particular song.
The rapper said the track is not about discussing who killed Senzo but more about using the former soccer captain as a metaphor for other issues.
According to a report by TshisaLIVE Blaklez said he knows there are a lot of people saying the law must take its course.
Blacklez added that he doesn't discuss who was there on the night Senzo was murdered. He wants the song to highlight issues and injustices in society.
The rapper said that the issues he raised about education, poverty and equal chances are similar to the way that Senzo's murder hasn't been solved yet. None of these issues are getting the attention they deserve.
Blaklez also said that he decided to write about the problems of those around him and didn't try to use personal issues.
Senzo's father is still very upset about the fact that his son's killer hasn't been found yet. Briefly.co.za reported on how Sam Meyiwa asked President Ramaphosa for help in finding the person who shot his son. He pleaded with the president to help him find the person who took his son from him.
