Survivor SA's latest winner was announced on the 16th of August during the live finale and Tom Swartz walked away R1 million richer. Tom, former head of an anti-poaching unit, managed to outplay other South Africans and survive 39 days on a remote island.
Tom Swartz won Survivor South Africa with a 6-1 vote, much to his surprise.
The 41-year-old said being a millionaire feels surreal, according to a report by Channel24.
The adventure camp manager couldn't help but exclaim that winning the reality tv series is amazing.
Tom plans to buy the house his family currently lives in so they will never have to worry about not having a home.
Tom said he didn't really think he would win the series. He said he hoped to make it to the merge and then maybe the top 5.
About his speech during the final tribal council, Tom said he didn't have a lot of time to prepare for it so he decided to just admit his mistakes and losses. He believes his honesty is what helped sway the jury.
He knew full well that he irritated and even ticked off some people. The vote he least expected was Palesa's.
For Tom, voting off Werner was emotionally the worst thing he did but also his best move in the game.
Tom admitted to missing being on the island. If he could, he would return in an instant.
