One of Mzansi’s most influential hip hop stars were laid to rest this past weekend. ProKid’s death brought a wave of sadness to the nation and his name will never be forgotten.
He was laid to rest on Sunday 19 August, 2018, reported the Daily Sun. It was a day filled with heavy hearts and many hard goodbyes.
Pro’s family, friends and fans came together at the UJ Soweto Campus to celebrate his life and pay their respects. Close family and friends then went to the Westpark Cemetery to lay his body to rest.
Briefly.co.za learnt that his tombstone is covered in loving words and has music notes on the side to reflect everything that ProKid was.
Loved ones were completely shattered, especially ProKid’s wife and his beautiful daughter. The widow whaled in disbelief of the loss of her husband.
Friends and family spoke of the impact that ProKid had on so many. His love for his hometown, Soweto, was also highlighted several times.
Burnouts were done in the street to show respect for the ‘number one Soweto boy’. Fans believe that this is exactly what ProKid would have wanted.
Many tears flowed that day, but ProKid got the send-off that he deserved. His legacy will live on and he will always be honoured for his impact, courage and contribution to society.
