As the first day of the long-awaited State Capture Inquiry got underway it was hard not to notice the intimidating advocates that stood by the accused parties' sides.

Jacob Zuma's legal team included advocates Thabani Masuku, Mike Hellens, Dawie Joubert and Muzi Sikhakane - all highly achieved in their own rights.

Hellens will be representing Ajay Gupta after he also represented another Gupta family member on Friday in Bloemfontein.

Rudi Krause of BDK Attorneys was also present, according to a report by News24.

The first day of the State Capture Inquiry will be nothing more than formalities and the first witnesses are expected to appear on Tuesday, 21 August.
