- It has been revealed that ProKid's 'colourful' tombstone cost an estimated R100 000 to make,
- But, the manufacturer said it was 'worth' every penny and the time it took to complete
- Khaabo Tombstones started with the tombstone last week Thursday and they aimed to incorporate what he meant to his loved ones, fans and the Soweto community in its design
ProKid's family, friends and fans were excited to see the unveiling of the legendary musician's tombstone and it was something else, to say the least.
The massive sculpture weighs 1.2 tons and it was recently revealed it cost R100k to make it, TshisaLIVE reported.
Khaabo Tombstones was in charge of the design and manufacturing of the tombstone, which embodied who he was to his family, fans and Soweto.
According to the company's manager, Nthato Nkwadi, they worked closely with the rapper's family to create a tombstone fit for the late musician.
Nkwadi added the cost of the tombstone was high because of the liquid lamination, which they used to give the structure its beautiful colours. He added the price tag was worth it in the end.
Briefly.co.za learned Nkwadi continued by saying he was a fan of ProKid and it was an honour for him and his team to be tasked with creating a tombstone which showed how much he meant to Soweto.
He went on to add the rapper's family was happy with its end result and they can know there would never be another one like it.
There will "never be another one like this one. Just like, there will never be another number one Soweto boy!" Nkwadi said.
