- Nilesh, from India, apparently had a falling out with his girlfriend
- When he heard she was returning home, he put up 300 billboards along her route
- The billboards asked her for forgiveness, but the man ended up in trouble with authorities
A 25-year-old man from Pune in India was desperate for his girlfriend's forgiveness — so he put up 300 billboards asking for it.
Nilesh Khedekar apparently had a falling out with his girlfriend before she travelled to Mumbai recently, according to Oddity Central. Her name is reportedly Shivde.
When he learned that she was returning to Pune, he arranged with several young men to put up the signs along the route she was using.
The signs bore the words, "Shivde, I am sorry!" They also featured a red heart sign conveying Nilesh's love.
It's unclear whether or not the signs caught Shivde's attention, and whether she forgave Nilesh or not.
However, it sure caught the attention of local authorities. Briefly.co.za learned that town officials served the lovestruck man with a formal complaint for defacing the town.
Nilesh, who is likely to receive a fine for his effort, said in an interview:
The entire thing has turned ugly. My idea was to be creative in apologising to her. Now I think I shouldn’t have done it in the first place. I have let my parents down. I have let her (girlfriend) and her family down as well.
Nevertheless, he has won his 15 minutes of fame if the buzz on Indian social media is anything to go by. The signs have since been removed.
