- The inconsistency in the line up has not helped in building the confidence of the team at Orlando Pirates
- Siphiwe Mkhonza feels Pirates need to keep it simple instead of constantly chopping and changing the line up
- Fans need to trust the technical department before they can buy into the philosophy of domination by the Buccaneers as it has not won them games.
Orlando Prates' technical department need to keep it simple. These are the words of advice from SABC Pundit and former Bafana Bafana international Siphiwe Mkhonza. The Soweto giants have been going through a lean spell that has seen them suffer three defeats in a row and fans restlessness is beginning to emerge. After an emphatic finish to last season expectations were high with the team viewed as favourites for the league title in 2018/2019. However, after five games the team has managed only one victory and have been booted out of the lucrative MTN8 trophy.
Briefly.co.za has learned that Orlando Pirates hired a finishing expert and yet the goals have completely dried up for an outfit that scored for fun in the last half of last season. The coaches have not managed to keep a steady starting eleven to let the team evolve and as Mkhonza told Kickoff, “Already there’s uncertainty and players are unsettled in terms of the line-ups, they don’t know who’s going to play next week", said Mkhonza. The juggling around of the team in an effort to find the right combinations has been tricky for the technical department. Meanwhile the fans are losing patience and the coaches need to know that as they try to find the right balance for the team, expectations from the fans do not cease.
