- Chippa United has confirmed that head coach Dan Malesa has been fired from his post
- Eric Tinkler who previously coached SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City has been appointed as his replacement
- Malesa was fired after just three matches in charge of the club
Chippa United has confirmed that it has parted ways with head coach Dan Malesa and replaced him with Eric Tinkler who previously coached SuperSport United, Cape Town City and Orlando Pirates.
Malesa was fired after only three matches in charge of Chippa United. The club is currently languishing in 15th place on the PSL log after losing two and drawing one of its opening three matches.
Malesa confirmed that his second contract with the Port Elizabeth-based club had been terminated by the club’s boss Siviwe Mpengesi.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Malesa said he had not been able to speak to Mpengesi as yet but he admitted that he thought the decision was largely based on impatience by the club’s management team.
Soccerladuma.com reported that Malesa said he was embarrassed and disappointed by the club’s decision. Malesa said the situation was incredibly humiliating for him personally.
Tinkler and SuperSport United parted ways in March and he is expected to take the reins at Chippa United with immediate effect.
Chippa United in a statement thanked Malesa for his time at the club and wished him well with all his future endeavours.
Tinkler has signed a one-year contract with Chippa United.
