South Africans responded with indignation to President Trump saying he wants the "farm seizures and expropriations" in South Africa to be closely studied.

AfriForum, however, welcomed the president's intentions. Maroela Media reports that Kriel stated the American Embassy was in contact with AfriForum representatives on Wednesday.

The Economic Freedom Fighters responded on social media. Floyd Shivambu quickly addressed the president's tweets:

‏@FloydShivambu - That’s madness and highest form of foolishness by a racist bigot, who lacks the basic intelligence to understand anything. South Africa will never be intimidated by global racists who believe in lies. Land expropriation will happen against all forms of threats by Foolishness.

The EFF's spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi also gave her view on the now-hated tweet:

@MbuyiseniNdlozi - We are not scared! We are not moved! We know that Britain will follow with the same madness; because for them black people in this country must remain landless in the country of their birth. Imperialism will not succeed this time! The world is no longer the one of Bush & Blair!
