- Helen Adrigwe took to Twitter to share her heartbreaking story
- She had lost both her parents and all her siblings by the time she turned 40
- However, she remains thankful to God for helping her overcome her losses
A Pretoria-based woman has narrated how she overcame losing both her parents and all her siblings by the time she was 40 years old.
Writing on Twitter, 55-year-old Helen Adrigwe said she remains thankful to God for her life despite having lost so many of her loved ones.
She first lost her mom when she was just five years old, Briefly.co.za gathered. Her dad passed away when she was 25. Her siblings from the same mother all died before she turned 40.
As a result, Helen said she takes nothing in life for granted. However, she admitted that it was sometimes difficult to cope:
There was a time I would just stare into space and say why me Lord! My life would just feel so empty and I would be thinking how is it possible for one person to have to go through all this?
Fortunately, Helen found solace and comfort in God. She chose not to remain "miserable" and rather focus on the positives. She said she's blessed to see her kids grow into adults.
The brave woman added:
I have a lot to be thankful for. God still provides, protects, comforts, gives me peace despite all. I thank God for wonderful family and friends. Without God, I am nothing!
Helen urged those going through the pain of losing their loved ones to "hang in there" because the pain eventually subsides.
