- Kgosi Tshila came to Johannesburg to live with his uncle and look for work
- However, he said his uncle kicked him out
- He resorted to living in a cemetery after finding a job as a gardener
A 37-year-old man in Johannesburg resorted to living among the dead after his uncle kicked him out of his home.
Kgosi Tshila left Mahikeng in the North West for Johannesburg to look for work in 2016, Daily Sun reports. His uncle promised to provide him accommodation at his home.
However, Kgosi said things changed last year when his uncle hooked up with a girlfriend and subsequently evicted him.
The desperate man said his uncle had complained that Kgosi was "eating too much," came home late, and didn't work. He explained:
I was sad that my uncle disowned his blood relative because of a woman he’d just met. I begged him to give me a week but he showed me no mercy and just kicked me out.
Luckily, Kgosi found a job as a gardener, Briefly.co.za learned. It only pays R1,700 a month.
Desperate, Kgosi decided to live at the Brixton Cemetery. Incredibly, he said his mother does not know of his situation and still presumes he's living with his uncle.
He said life at the graveyard is tough:
Sleeping here is scary. I always have nightmares and often see ghosts but have nowhere else to go. If I stop, my mother will suffer even more and I don’t want that.
Kgosi therefore hopes to get a better job to improve his living conditions.
