After four years of trying to conceive and failing, a married couple from China went to the doctor to find out what could be wrong.

At first, the doctor suspected that the woman could be suffering from a gynaecological disease since she told him she found sexual intercourse painful.

However, after talking to the couple, obstetrician Liu Hongmei realised the couple were actually doing it wrong.

The 26-year-old husband and 24-year-old wife have been using 'the backdoor' instead of having normal intercourse.

The couple had been under pressure from their families to have a baby, according to a report by Unilad.

Dr Hongmei said it is rare that couples are so uninformed but it is a common thing for people to have misconceptions about sexual intercourse.

The doctor gave the couple a sexual education handbook and not long after the couple reported they are expecting their first child.

As a token of appreciation, the couple sent the doctor a live hen and 100 eggs.
