Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya, head of the Hawks, is seriously concerned about the allegations that a senior Hawks officer tried to prevent investigations into bribery by the Guptas.

TimesLIVE reports the Guptas are accused of wanting to South Africa's former Deputy Finance Minister Mcebisi Jonas.

For now, it is unclear what kind of steps will be taken about the allegations against the accused senior Major General Zinhle Mnonopi. She is still serving in her current position.

According to Jonas, Mnonopi wanted to have the case "killed" after it came to light that one of the Gupta brothers offered him a bribe. She allegedly went as far as giving him a prepared statement that he was to sign, but he refused.

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported Jonas threw the Guptas under the bus with his testimony and he revealed all- even how the controversial family threatened to have him killed if he said anything.

It was also learned during the inquiry that Jonas said he had a meeting with someone whom he believed was Ajay Gupta and was interviewed to see if he would be a suitable replacement for Nhlanhla Nene and would be willing to become a foot soldier for the family.

As this inquiry continues, one can only wonder what other bombshells will be dropped.
