Thembi and Joseph were blissfully happy. The couple from Diepkloof had happily spent years together and were always talking about getting married one day.

When Joseph (46) finally asked Thembi (42) to be his wife, she gladly said yes. Joseph travelled home to Pomeroy, KwaZulu-Natal to consult his ancestors before actually getting married.

The Daily Sun reports that Thembi says when Joseph returned, he had changed. He told Thembi that his ancestors informed him that he had yet to meet his life partner and distanced himself from her.

Thembi says when Joseph told her that his ancestors did not bless them, her heart broke into a million pieces.

We were so good together. In the years we’ve been together we’ve had nothing but happiness.

The heartbroken woman says Joseph was always good to her and spoiled her with gifts. She, in turn. did everything she could to make him a happy man.

She feels Joseph's ancestors are cruel and unfair. She wonders how they could destroy something that was so perfect.

However, Briefly.co.za gathered that Thembi is far from giving up hope. She wants to consult a sangoma who can help convince Joseph's ancestors that they should be together.

I know I’m asking for a lot but I need help. I love Joseph.

Joseph says he has always followed the advice of his elders in serious decisions and marriage is a very important matter. He admits that he still loves Thembi but he must be obedient.

When the ancestors say no, it’s no. Unfortunately in this case, they rejected her and there’s nothing I can do. If I ignore their message I might regret it one day. That’s why I have decided to stay far away from Thembi.
