Mehmet Altiparmak the head coach of Turkish Super Lig club Erzurumspor has confirmed the news many Kaizer Chiefs fans are dreading. Altiparmak told Turkish media outlets over the weekend that Erzurumspor and Kaizer Chiefs had in principle agreed to a deal which will see Siphiwe Tshabalala join the Turkish side.

Shock news emerged last week that Kaizer Chiefs had reached an agreement in principle to part ways with Tshabalala with immediate effect.

Tshabalala is believed to be on the cusp of signing a two year deal with Erzurumspor. The deal is set to be confirmed in the coming days.

Briefly.co.za gathered that Altiparmak said Tshabalala was scheduled to fly to Turkey in the coming days and once all the usual assessments and medical checks had been concluded the deal would be signed.

Tshabalala has been a fixture at Kaizer Chiefs for more than 11 years and has become synonymous with the PSL giants. During his time with the club, he has carved a legacy with the team which few can match.

Kickoff.co.za reported that Erzurumspor play in the Turkish Premier League which is known as the Super Lig. The newly-promoted side has lost their opening two matches and are looking to bolster their side in order to avoid relegation.

Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas refused to be drawn into speculation about Tshabalala’s future and on Friday said Tshabalala was still a part of his squad and had taken part in practice with his teammates.

South African news outlets have cast doubts on the validity of the transfer news owing to a lack of evidence provided on Erzurumspor official website and social media platforms, but the latest news coupled with a deafening silence from Kaizer Chiefs management seem to indicate that the deal is all but done.
