The seat in the Nelson Mandela Bay (NMB) mayor's office is not even cold yet following Atul Trollip's ousting and Mongameli Bobani already made himself at home- and, he is loving every moment of it.
The Citizen reported United Democratic Movement’s Bobani officially took over as mayor of the NMB after a motion of no confidence left Trollip without a job.
The new mayor gloated as he took a spin in the mayor's seat- literally! Video footage was shared on Twitter, which showed a giggling Bobani spinning around in his new chair.
The clip was shared on Twitter by Athi Plaatjie, along with the caption: "Mongameli Bobani seated at the #Nmb mayoral office. Ousted Executive Mayor @AtholT belongings have been removed. #NMBCouncil #NMBCouncilVote @AlgoaFMNews"
Briefly.co.za gathered the video sparked mixed reactions from social media users, many of whom felt he was acting very childish.
Skhumbuzo Vilakazi, who goes by the Twitter handle @sdvilakazi, wrote: "He is acting very childish. It's like a man who got employed after years of being unemployed."
Social media @mix_upchick added, "Eish...shouldnt he be working? Rather playing with his chair. Strict Empty desk policy?"
However, some tweeps were happy for Bobani and wished him good luck.
