One of South Africa’s most iconic actors and playwrights, Bonisile John Kani is celebrating his 75th birthday today.
The incredibly creative man has not only put Mzansi on the map, he has made an invaluable contribution to the film industry on an international level.
John’s most recent and one of his biggest accomplishments was being a part of the infamous ‘Black Panther’. He persuaded the producer to use isiXhosa as Wakanda’s language, an iconic moment for Mzansi.
He is also a Tony Award winner who has two honorary doctorates for his invaluable contributions and work.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Kani was born on 30 August 1943 in New Brighton, Port Elizabeth. His contribution to South Africa, will last a life time.
