A husband-and-wife team from John Taolo Gaetsewe municipality in the Northern Cape has made it big in the mining industry.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Jomo and Kefilwe Khomo established their company, Kele Mining Solutions, in 2016.
It provides a wide range of services, including project and operations management, contract mining, and drill and blast solutions.
Jomo and Kefilwe's company received a massive boost when it partnered with Kumba Iron Ore. Its revenue grew by over 3,000 percent.
In an interview with Daily Sun, Jomo said Kumba's supplier development programme taught them valuable marketing and operational skills.
The couple's success has enabled them to empower emerging businesses. Jomo explained:
We believe we’ve changed the lives of many people here. We give local businesses contracts and help them so they have the skills we need. We provide them with equipment and knowledge so they are able to compete.
He added that they are expanding their operations in Rustenburg, North West, while exploring new opportunities in neighbouring Botswana.
