Bafana Bafana striker Lebo Mothiba looks set to complete a transfer deal worth around R135 in the French Ligue 1. Mothiba looks set to complete a shock move from his current Lille side to Strasbourg who also competes in the French Ligue 1.

Lille’s decision to offload Mothiba has come as a surprise since he has been a regular starter for the club and observers believe the club are looking to cash in on some of their assets while the opportunity still exists.

Briefly.co.za gathered that Mothiba has been credited as playing a crucial role in his side avoiding relegation. He returned to Lille in January after being loaned out to Ligue 2 side Valenciennes.

TimesLive.co.za reported that Mothiba has been in some of his best form in recent months, his performances have earned him praise and a spot in Stuart Baxter’s Bafana squad to face Libya in their AFCON qualifier.

Mothiba’s possible new club, Strasbourg had a stuttering start to the new season. The club has won once, drawn once and lost once, leaving it with four points out of a possible nine.

The club has been desperate to sign a high-quality striker to bolster its attack and Mothiba will be an invaluable asset to the team.

Mothiba is expected to sign a long-term deal with the club once all the formalities such as medicals are out of the way. The deal is thought to be somewhere between four and five years with both sides still negotiating the exact length.
