Sephokwane, the brave Grade 3 pupil who had to run barefoot in a 2km school race recently, has received new shoes thanks to well-wishers.
As Briefly.co.za reported, Kaila Germishuizen, a pupil from a different school participating in the same race, saw Sephokwane struggling though a patch of thorns.
Amazingly, she opted to carry Sephokwane through the patch despite race restrictions. The story warmed the hearts of many South Africans. It took place at Groblersdal Academy in Limpopo.
According to Good Things Guy, well-wishers reached out to donate shoes to Sephokwane. The brave little runner now has brand new shoes for her next race.
Photos shared by Edu-Discipline, which initially carried the story, show a beaming Sephokwane wearing her new shoes.
Sephokwane and Kaila have since met again and are now great friends. Kaila also received a medal for her kind gesture.
The two little girls are indeed the perfect example of Ubuntu and have proven to be an inspiration to many South Africans.
