71-year-old gogo's massive African pumpkins can feed a village

- Gogo Nwa-mdunwazi Gudu has been a farmer for over 40 years

A 71-year-old gogo from Maluleke village in Limpopo grows massive African pumpkins that can feed her entire village.

Nwa-mdunwazi Gudu has been a farmer for over 40 years, reports Daily Sun. Besides pumpkins, she also grows and sells cabbages, tomatoes, spinach, and onions.

Briefly.co.za learned that she makes a local delicacy known as tshopi using her pumpkins. She then sells the meal to locals as well as tourists visiting the nearby Kruger National Park.

Prices for her pumpkins range from R10 to R50 each. Not only do they keep her healthy — they also earn her a comfortable living.

Gogo Nwa-mdunwazi expressed pride in the fact that her clients come from near as well as faraway villages.

One of her clients, Mamayila Chauke, praised her:

We used to travel long distances to buy pumpkins and vegetables, but now we walk only a few metres to Nwa-mdunwazi’s farm to buy enough vegetables to feed the whole family.

The enthusiastic gogo Nwa-mdunwazi is not showing signs of slowing down any time soon and clearly draws delight from her farming.
