- SuperSport United have confirmed that Zambian international Billy Mutale has joined the club
- Mutale signed a two-year deal with the Pretoria-based club
- SuperSport United completed the deal before the close of the transfer window but waited to officially unveil their latest player
Zambian international defender Billy Mutale has been officially unveiled by SuperSport United. Mutale joined the Pretoria-based side before the South African transfer window closed on 31 August but the club decided to wait a couple of days before unveiling him.
Mutale joins SuperSport on a two-year deal. He previously played for Power Dynamos who compete in the Zambian Premier League. South African fans will recall Mutale played against Orlando Pirates in the pre-season.
The 25-year-old Zambian was spotted by talent scouts during Zambia’s COSAFA Cup appearance in Polokwane earlier this year. The tournament has become something of a scouters dream in recent times.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Kaizer Chiefs signed Madagascan Andriamirado Andrianarimanana after spotting him at the same tournament.
Kickoff.co.za reported that SuperSport United used their social media platforms to introduce Mutale to the club’s supporters and rivals.
The announcement was expected after Dynamos released a statement last week in which the club’s CEO said his side had decided to release Mutale to allow him the opportunity to develop fully as a player.
Mutale’s former club was full of praise and according to Citizen.co.za the club’s management described Mutale as being a pillar of the club who had always tried to give his best for the team.
Dynamos said a big part in its willingness to release Mutale was that he had been open with the technical and management staff about his desire to play in South Africa.
Mutale said he was happy to have completed the move to SuperSport.
