A husband-and-wife entrepreneurial team has won the 2018 Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Sanlam and Business Partners, which sponsor the award, named Samuel and Motlapele Molefi the winners on 5 September, smesouthafrica.co.za reports.
Briefly.co.za learned that the couple founded Modi Mining CC in 2011. It provides contract mining services to companies in the local mining industry.
According to Gugu Mjadu, the competition's spokesperson, the couple grew their company significantly despite the tough economic environment.
Modi Mining's net asset value rose form about R1million in 2012 to a staggering R80million in 2017. Gugu described this as "truly impressive."
Samuel and Motlapele also created a total of 98 new jobs through their company in 2017, according to Black Umbrellas.
In a tweet, Motlapele thanked God upon learning the exciting news. She and her husband are currently on a tour of Peru to study the mining industry there.
