On Saturday, robbers took down a cash-in-transit van in Pienaar‚ near Nelspruit in Mpumalanga. According to officials, a G4S armoured car was shot at by suspects and after it came to a stop, the thugs continued to blow it up.

The criminals took what they wanted and fled the scene of the crime with an unknown amount of money, TimesLIVE reported Police spokesperson lieutenant-colonel Brenda Muridili said.

However, the heist was far from over. Briefly.co.za learned shortly after the suspect made their get-away, residents started looting the cash-in-transit van.

Police has since released a statement, where they condemned the actions of residents. Muridili said their actions made it hard for the police to conduct an investigation and gather evidence from the crime scene.
