South Africans took to social media to share their condolences to the families of the fallen firefighters, who lost their lives trying to put out a fire at the department of health's building in Johannesburg.
On Wednesday, South Africans watched in anticipation how firefighters attempted to put out a fire blazing in the health building in Joburg.
Sadly, three of the brave firefighters lost their lives and it send shock waves through the country.
So, South Africans took to social media to share their sadness over the lives lost and condolences for the families, and Briefly.co.za gathered some of the most heartfelt messages.
Tiyani Balloy, who goes by the Twitter handle @TiyaniBalloy, wrote: "It's very painful to lose colleagues, especially on duty cos it could happen to anyone of them."
Tumi Sole wrote, "Condolences to you and your family. Your husband will forever remain a hero & served this country with pride. Tweeps, may we kindly assist where we can."
Simon Grindrod, @SimonPGrindrod, commented: "Tonight there are three families devastated by the tragic deaths of their brave loved ones. It would be a sign of respect for them if some South Africans did not RT footage of one of them falling off a ledge. Let us at least give the deceased that dignity."
