Saturday saw a group of 13-year-old boys attempt to hijack a VW Polo in Mitchells Plain.
The shocking and worrying incident happened at a BP garage along the Swartklip Road. The teenage boys tried to hijack the Polo but the driver reacted swiftly and started shooting at the group.
During the shooting, a petrol attendant was shot in his hand. Another bystander, the driver of another car, also got injured when a bullet grazed his hand. Paramedics were called to treat the wounds.
The Daily Voice reported that an older man accompanied the group of teenagers. He was watching events unfold from a distance.
The boys and the man fled the scene after the shooting started and no suspects have since been arrested.
The police believe the driver only shot in self-defence. Lieutenant-Colonel André Traut stated that an investigation has been started.
