- Samson Mavuso is an orphan and has no relatives around
- He has been living alone in Mpumalanga since his mom passed away in 2014
- A Twitter user shared his plight and tweeps have rallied to help him
South Africans on Twitter have rallied to help an orphaned youngster who lives alone in Kgobokwane, Mpumalanga.
A Twitter user, Andiswa Pumi, shared Samson Mavuso's story recently. He has been living alone since his mom passed away in 2014, Briefly.co.za learned.
He reportedly does not have relatives and lives in a dilapidated house. Amazingly, he has not dropped out of school and is currently in Grade 12.
In a subsequent tweet, Andiswa said she and some well-wishers rented a room near his school so he could have a better place to stay.
She added that Samson is keen to go to university next year and has already applied for NSFAS funding.
Andiswa appealed to tweeps to help Samson cover his rent and food costs. She said he only has lunch at school and from a local centre.
In fact, Andiswa recently found Samson at a traditional ceremony that he was attending for the sole purpose of getting some food.
Samson's plight touched the hearts of many tweeps, many of who immediately reached out to help.
Tweeps also praised Samson for staying in school and never giving up despite his bleak situation.
