A betrayed ex-wife and an abusive relationship: Inside Caswell and Itumeleng Maseko's fatal romance

The county was left shook over the wife who stabbed her husband to death, and now, more detail surrounding their troubled relationship has been revealed.

According to reports by The Sowetan, Mrs Maseko opened two assault cases against her husband in 2015- only two-years after they started dating.

However, the couple withdrew the charges together and they appeared to be a happy couple. Caswell's family admitted they had stormy relationship, but they rubbished claims that it was grounds for their daughter-in-law to murder her hubby.

Itumeleng allegedly murdered her 30-year-old millionaire husband last Saturday after a night out with her girlfriends.

According to reports, when she returned home with her friends, Caswell asked them to keep quiet because they were being too loud.

Things allegedly escalated and, according to her friend's account, Caswell started to abuse Itumeleng.

The friend reportedly ran out to get help from the security guard, but upon their return to the house, she had already stabbed him to death.

However, Caswell's family also rubbished the version of events. According to the late businessman's relatives, she stabbed him while he was peacefully asleep in his bed.

Itumeleng fled the scene and turned herself in two days later. Since the horrific incident took place, Caswell's ex-wife has spoken out about his second wife.

Thembisile Masanabo added more drama to the story when she revealed Itumeleng stole her husband in 2013, two years before they tied the knot in a traditional ceremony.

Masanabo, who has a five-year-old son with the slain millionaire, added not only did Itumeleng ruin her marriage, she took Caswell away from his first family forever.

"She took him away from me and married him and now she took him away from me and my son forever," Masanabo added.

The 29-year-old ex-wife added she never stopped loving her ex-husband, and he knew it- that's why she remained close to the family.

Masanabo was in the first row of Caswell's funeral and pictures of their wedding day were shared as he was laid to rest- however, Itumeleng was cut our completely of the funeral and his family has since declared war against her.

Briefly.co.za learned they vowed to not stop until she rots in prison.
