Hold up! The twitter streets are buzzing about a very dodgy-looking identity document shared by OUTA on Wednesday. And for good reason...
Outa, the Organisation for Undoing Tax Abuse, asked on its handle:
"How did Ashu Chawla - aka the "Gupta post office" - get away with wearing sunglasses in his ID photo? #StateCapture #Guptas @rudieheyneke"
Who is Ashu Chawla?
Briefly.co.za learned that Chawla, an alleged Gupta foot soldier, and the former Sahara chief executive, is a wanted man. His whereabouts are unknown since the Gupta-leaks came to light.
Chawla is one of many within a network who helped neutralise the Guptas as SA citizens.
The controversial Gupta leaked emails exposed how Chawla helped facilitate some of the Guptas’ dodgy deals.
According to a Mail and Guardian report, Chawla made it easier and called for all sorts of visas he wanted, apparently through contacts he had in Home Affairs.
Why is he the talk of town on twitter streets?
According to mypassportphotos.com, a South African passport or ID photo has to have the following specifications:
- Size of visa photo: 35 x 45mm
- Photo Color: Must be in color
- Head size and position: Entire face, centered
- Background: White Background
- Smile: Neutral
- Eyes: Open
- Glasses: You can use your daily reading glasses,
- Headgear: No
- Quantity needed: Two (2) photographs
Another report by Traveler24 also stated the same information.
But, in the image shared by Outa, Chawla is seen wearing dark glasses, that appear to be sunglasses.
This shocking mistake has led tweeps to ask some serious questions:
