A proud PhD graduate took to Twitter recently to send a message to his late mom who passed away 32 years ago.
Siphiwo Mahala graduated with a PhD in English from UNISA recently, Briefly.co.za learned. He posted a photo of his certificate along with the caption:
Mama, I know you've been sleeping for 32 years, but please read this.
Siphiwo also posted a photo of himself at his graduation ceremony. He was pictured in his bright red gown and raising his right fist.
He is an acclaimed writer with one novel, When A Man Cries, and a short story collection, African Delights, to his name.
Siphiwo's message to his late mom touched the hearts of thousands of tweeps. It has been 1,700 times and liked 12,600 times so far.
His followers and other Twitter users congratulated him for his exceptional achievement. They also said his mom would be proud of him.
