15-year-old pupil arrested for pointing a gun at his teacher

- A grade 8 boy has allegedly pointed a gun at a teacher on Wednesday

- The pupil has since been arrested and will face criminal charges

- The teacher and other pupils affected by the incident have started counselling

On Wednesday a 15 year old boy from Eldorado Park Secondary School allegedly pointed his gun at a teacher.

The grade 8 pupil was arrested on Thursday. The boy will be charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and pointing a gun.

According to EWN, the Gauteng Department of Education confirmed that the 15-year-old was arrested.

The boy has been released into the custody of his parents. The boy, whose identity has not been revealed, is expected to appear on Friday at the Kliptown Magistrates Court.

Steve Mabona of the Gauteng Department of Education stated that the students affected by the traumatic incident have begun counselling. The teacher has also started counselling.

MEC Panyaza Lesufi addressed the incident and said violent acts in schools will be dealt with swiftly.

Lesufi added that there is a no-tolerance approach to this kind of act and there will not be any mercy shown towards lawless behaviour in and around schools.
