When the craving for chocolate has you in its grip it's hard to resist giving in and indulging in a sweet treat. However, when you steal this sweet treat, it changes from an innocent indulgence to downright criminal behaviour. An Engen garage in Bloemfontein was recently victim to a thief who needed his sugary fix.
The Engen garage in Heidedal was recently targeted by a serial thief with a sweet tooth and sticky fingers.
The man was caught on camera pretending to talk on his phone as he grabbed chocolate bars, walked to the back of the shop and dropped them down his pants.
The sweet tooth thief then pretended to be on his phone again and walked out before driving off in his Toyota Etios.
Papi Matsa, the manager at Engen, said the thief got away with 6 chocolate bars worth R114 on Saturday.
News24 reports the cheeky thief returned on Sunday to get his sugar fix once again. However, this time the staff was prepared and the man was confronted.
He quickly returned the chocolates and took off.
What happened to the chocolates afterwards is unclear and no criminal case has been opened.
Here's the video showing how the thief carried out his chocolate theft:
South Africans found the man's theft a little funny and shared some jokes on social media:
Nothile Ngcobo - Sugar daddy. I looked at this man and thought something big was about to get down. Looks like he was about to rob a garage at gun point
Laurian Somayi - I like how he was busy talking to his imaginary friend on the phone
