The lucky mom who gave birth to rare quintuplets recently in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, is Prudence Dlangisa.
As Briefly.co.za reported, the Buthelezi quintuplets were born at the Clinix Botshelong Empilweni Private Hospital.
Prudence and her husband Joe Buthelezi named them Siyanda, Sibahle, Simesihle, Silindile and Sindisiwe.
Speaking to TimesLIVE, Prudence said she was have trouble falling pregnant and approached Dr Moeng Pitsoe for help earlier this year.
The doctor prescribed her ovulation induction drugs and she became pregnant just 10 days later. Scans revealed only three babies. Having five therefore came as a huge surprise.
It was emotional. When the fourth one came, I was so emotional. Not that I didn’t want her, it’s just that I didn’t know.
Dr Moeng said the hospital will establish a trust to help Prudence and her husband Joe cope with raising five babies.
He added that the quintuplets will be discharged from hospital once they weigh two kilograms each.
Quintuplets are rare in South Africa. The Buthelezis are the third quintuplets born since 1994 and the fifth since 1960.
