The new KwaDukuza Mall hasn't opened yet but already it has been creating jobs in KwaDukuza. Construction of the mall created 1 100 jobs and 260 jobs have been created permanently, so far. The mall is set to open on 27 September and it is a most anticipated day for residents of KwaDukuza.
Unemployment is a major problem in South Africa, but thanks to the new KwaDukuza Mall, residents of the area can enjoy some relief as jobs are created.
The developer behind the massive mall is Vivian Reddy and he has invested R500 million in KwaDukuza Mall.
The 29 000 square meter mall has 900 parking bays and 80 stores. The mall is part of an even bigger project that will have an office park, hotel, private hospital and value centre.
Big stores like Edgars, Woolworths, Clicks, Pick n Pay and Ackermans will all be found in the KwaDukuza Mall.
Reddy feels that the residents of KwaDukuza are in need of a quality mall, according to a report by IOL News.
The nearest shopping area is in Ballito which is 25 minutes away.
KwaDukuza residents will also gain from the new sporting facilities - also from Reddy - that are worth R25 million. The facilities include a big swimming pool, tennis courts and upgraded football and cricket fields.
The students who studied construction at Reddy's Skills Development Training centre in the town were pulled closer to help build the mall.
The centre was initiated by Reddy 2 years ago.
As development around the mall continues, hope of more employment is brought to the residents of KwaDukuza - something that is most welcome in these financially unstable times.
