A Johannesburg-based woman has paid a heartfelt tribute to her brother who took her through university.
Lisolami Zikode graduated from the University of Johannesburg recently, Briefly.co.za learned. She posted a photo of herself and her brother at her graduation on Facebook.
She recalled how her brother became the head of the family after their parents passed away. He also encouraged her to stay in university when she contemplated dropping out.
On top of all that, Lisolami's brother paid her university fees. She capped off her emotional post by saying:
Thank you for believing in me bhuti. Thank you for holding me down no matter what. I am crying. God knew when he took my parents that I'm left with you — my everything. It's just the beginning; I am about to make you the proudest brother on earth.
Lisolami's post went viral, racking up a whopping 65,000 reactions, 2,500 comments, and 5,700 shares so far.
It found its way to Twitter, where it also touched the hearts of thousands of South Africans. Many congratulated Lisolami on her graduation and praised her brother for being there for her.
