Orlando Pirates recorded their third win of the 2018/19 premier league season when they beat the current log leaders and their bogey team SuperSport United 3-1 in an epic encounter at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.
Orlando Pirates finally found their mojo and actually performed to their much-vaunted pre-season potential. The team finally delivered a complete performance and managed to convert scoring opportunities into goals, something which had been a major problem for the side.
Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic said his side had used the two-week break to work on the details of their game and the result showed that. Sredojevic said after the game that his side had stamped and signed the document.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Sredojevic explained his analogy by saying any official document is only valid if it has the correct stamp and signature. He said in previous matches his side had managed to get the document but failed to get it stamped or signed.
Sredojevic said the match against SuperSport had changed that because the team had created scoring chances and had converted on those chances.
Kickoff.co.za reported that Sredojevic brought extra motivation into the match and urged his players to break the jinx which SuperSport had over them.
Orlando Pirates have struggled to beat SuperSport at home in recent times and had a nine-match winless streak against the log leaders going into the match.
Sredojevic said the while the result was incredibly encouraging he still had to look at areas where the team could improve and one such area was nearly allowing the opposition to get back in the game instead of killing the game.
Sredojevic hailed his side’s preparation ahead of the match and said the team had improved in virtually every single detail of the game.
