Photographs were shared on social media which showed the Western Cape police busting a man, who was caught driving a hijacked vehicle.
The police busted the 30-year-old man on Monday on the corner of Kromboom and Jan Smuts Drive in Athlone.
Briefly.co.za learned Police spokesperson, Andre Traut, said the vehicle that was found in the man's possession was stolen during a hijacking last month.
Traut added the man is yet to be charged but once he is, he would have to appear in the Wynberg Magistrates court. A photo of the arrest was shared on SABC Western Cape's Facebook page.
According to News24, officers on duty spotted the car while patrolling the area. The acted swiftly and blocked the man off before he could getaway on Kromboom Road.
Hijacking has become a major issue in South Africa. Briefly.co.za recently reported about another hijacking in Chartwell, Gauteng, while security guards were patrolling the premises.
However, CCTV footage showed instead of helping the victim, the security guards immediately ran off.
