True Ubuntu: Man gives SA hope by buying lunch for homeless men

What do you do when you see a homeless person sitting around, doing nothing? Do you get angry because the person is just sitting there, or do you feel bad and wish there was a way you could help your fellow South African?

A South African with a big heart recently decided to buy two homeless men breakfast and his kindness got South Africans right in the feels.

The man, identified on Facebook as BI Phakathi, is a life coach and motivational speaker as well as hero to his fellow South Africans.

Phakathi took the men to a shop to buy something to eat and even told them they should take bigger portions than what they chose.

The men were hesitant but happy to be allowed to choose a 2l Coke as well.

Eventually, Phakathi was able to convince the men to also choose toiletries and a few other items. They were shy but he insisted on being a friend and helping them out.

At one point one of the men became a little tearful, quite understandably.

Being someone who loves sweets, Phakathi also got the homeless men some sweets.

This, South Africa, is what is needed. For people to look past colour and situation and simply embrace the urge to give a helping hand without asking anything in return.

South Africans flooded Phakathi with messages of thanks for doing such a random kind deed:

Tau Motaung - What a great human being is this brother, we need more people like him in the society. May Allah bless him and his family.
Keith Donovan - BI Phakathi you are truly very kind and I wish that you are equally blessed one day. You have shown compassion and love to people who have forgotten what it’s like to be loved, I no longer live in SA but when people ask me what SA is like you are what I show them. RESPECT !
Candice Shaw - I got shivers! The world needs more of you, you are one hell of a person and make us realise when we so easily forget that sometimes it's the little things you do for others that means everything to them. God bless you, you beautiful human
Louis Lu-anne Rossouw - BI Phakathi you are a superior human being and I salute you. Thank you child of God for being an example for me. God bless you.
