Woman narrowly escapes death as bullet fired at her lodges in bible

- An 82 year old woman identified as Bettie Nel recently escaped death

- Nel who lives in a farmhouse in Mahikeng, north west of South Africa woke up to intruders in her home

- She tried getting rid of them but ended up getting shot at

- She was however saved when the bullet lodged in her bible

Miracles do happen even in the most unbelievable circumstances. The internet has been booming since the photo of a bible which saved 82-year-old woman identified as Bettie Nel recently emerged online.

According to reports, Bettie, who resides in a farmhouse located in Mahikeng, north west of South Africa, woke up to noises in her home and made her way to where she heard it from. Surprisingly she encountered two intruders who apparently broke into the home to steal, reacting abruptly, brave Nel threw a doorstop at the attackers and made her way to escape the situation.

In retaliation, one of the intruders fired his gun but luckily, missed the target as the bullet found its way into her bible, protecting her from what could have ended her life.

The incident occurred during the late hours of September 15. Unfortunately, reports claim Nel's 61-year-old daughter, Noeline Ferreira and her boyfriend, Thys Pienaar, 63, who live in the house with her, were attacked with the handle of a pick axe and flash light, which caused head injuries.

Reports reveal that police are hunting six suspects after firearms and mobile phones were stolen from the house, Briefly.co.za learned.
