- Herman Mashaba had good intentions when he praised the out-going Cape Town mayor for the work she done
- However, social media users had no chill when they slammed him following the post
- According to tweeps, unlike Cape Town under de Lille's reign, Joburg is suffering with Mashaba as its mayor
De Lille took to social media to brag, as the out-going mayor of Cape Town, about the great service delivery in the City.
"I am pleased as outgoing Executive Mayor to learn that the @CityCT is consistently providing higher levels of service delivery to its residents compared to any other city in South Africa," she wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.
De Lille's post sparked a reaction from Johannesburg mayor, Herman Mashaba, who praised her for the work she had done in Cape Town, Briefly.co.za learned.
"You deserve the accolades. We can all learn from your invaluable experience," Mashaba commented.
However, a tweep saw Mashaba's comment as an opportunity to share how Johannesburg looks currently.
Social media user @ComradeOupa posted an image of a wasteland in Johannesburg, captioning it: "Look at Joburg today.."
Another tweep pointed out Mashaba's kind words for de Lille was meaningless since he did not stand by her side while the DA tried to oust her.
Social media user @MaraWhy21 wrote, "It's just a pity you remained silent when siding with her was the unpopular stance. Anyway bye bye aunty Patty ( @PatriciaDeLille ). We love you."
