Two young kasi entrepreneurs are literally making a living out of keeping the environment clean.
Siyabonga Tshabalala and Nomuntu Ndlhovu run SiyaBuddy Recycling and Waste Management, TimesLIVE reports.
Their company services their entire Nkomazi Municipality in Mpumalanga, Briefly.co.za gathered.
Siyabonga founded the company in 2012. However, it took him more than three years to comply with all the relevant licensing and compliance regulations.
Nomuntu joined him in 2016 and together, they developed a business plan that scored them crucial funding from the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC).
Siyabonga and Nomuntu found it easy to work with each other because they both grew up in Steenbok, Mpumalanga, and are family friends.
Both resigned from their corporate jobs to start their venture. They now employ 18 permanent workers and over 500 indirectly.
Nomuntu explained some of the challenges they face:
Like any other business, managing cash flow and a lack of sufficient resources to meet demand are big problems for the company.
With support from IDC, the sky is the limit for the two entrepreneurs. They are also empowering themselves by obtaining more qualifications in their field.
