A woman has taken to social media to show the world her injured face after she had to fight back because a man could not understand the word 'no'.
In 2018, women in South Africa have cried for help over the high rate of gender abuse. And, one woman decided she was not going to be part of another statistic about the fatality rate amongst abused women.
So, she fought back and took to social media to show off her battle scars. The woman, who was identified as Refiloe Mnomiya, shared a photo of her injured face after she had to stand up against a man who could not understand she did not want to be intimate with him.
"All of this just cos I fought because of you and I. I said No to men canvassing on our body and thinking they can touch our private parts even though we say NO. I rather die than to be the next victim!!!!" Mnomiya captioned the photo.
The post sparked a debate on social media and tweeps were left heartbroken and enraged by the image, Briefly.co.za learned.
Social media user @That_SoO commented: "i am so sorry baby... i still do not understand why they feel the need to strip us off our power and pride. you definitely stood up and fought for a thousand more. so after this get trauma counselling and walk like you have 3000 ancestors following you."
