Man accused of raping 6-year-old in Dros toilet 'had his eye on her'

- A man who allegedly raped a 6-year-old girl in a restaurant in, Pretoria has been arrested

- The 20-year-old remains in police custody as an investigation is ongoing

- The man was allegedly beaten up in a mob attack shortly after the incident took place

A 20-year-old man accused of raping a 6-year-old in the bathroom of a Pretoria restaurant is currently in police custody.

The man will remain in custody as he faces charges of rape, assault with the intent to do bodily harm and possession of drugs.

The accused allegedly raped the little girl in the bathroom of Dros restaurant on Saturday, 22 September. According to an eyewitness, the man had watched the play area where the girl was playing with other kids.

He sat in the Silverton restaurant, drinking water and keeping an eye on the little girl. As soon as she went to the bathroom, he got up and went after her.

Shortly after, there was a commotion in the restaurant and it was revealed the man was beaten up in a mob justice attack, according to a report by 702.co.za.

On Tuesday, the man briefly appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on a rape charge. His case was postponed to the 2nd of October. Further investigation into the case has been launched.
