The annual Dance Music Awards South African was held on Wednesday evening at the Birchwood Hotel & OR Tambo Conference Centre. Mzansi’s deserving artists all showed up to see who would bag a win.
The biggest names in dance and house music were praised for their contribution to South African music, reported Times Live.
Mzansi has really been making its mark when it comes to dance and house music. The industry has boomed on an international level and our artists have been recognised.
Briefly.co.za learnt that 2018 has definitely been one of the most defining years for the industry with many of its artists going international and scooping international awards and titles. Mzansi is proud.
There are multiple tiles awarded at the SA Dance Music Awards, but we have highlighted 5 that have really made Mzansi shine.
1. Black Coffee
This man has done the most. He is an international sensation and his success does not stop growing. He got the award for Best International Artist.
This dynamic DJing due is made up of brothers Kyle and Austin Cassim. They took the award for EDM Record of the Year for their track ‘You and me’. What a cracker.
3. Distruction Boyz
Despite their struggles, they bagged the award for Best Gqom Album.
4. DJ Ganyani
This house veteran was crowned with the title of The Pioneers of House.
5. Lady Zamar
Unfortunately she could not attend, but she was beyond blessed to have received the award for Best Female Artist. She definitely deserved this one.
